Origins

I have always loved making desserts, from holiday cookies and candy, to confections accompanying school reports that contained a not insignificant amount of alcohol, to trips to my aunt’s bakery in Portland. My aunt would give me a plain cake round and some pastry bags full of frosting and let me go to town on my own gaudy cake canvas.

I fell in love with frozen custard in Rochester, New York (shout out to Abbott’s!) and began to dream about bringing this super special variety of soft serve to California. The smallest way to start turned out to be a food truck, which I ran from 2013-2020. During the Covid pandemic I used the parked truck as my kitchen and delivered pints and ice cream pies all over the East Bay. At the same time, I signed a lease on my Addison Street storefront in downtown Berkeley, which will be open (fingers crossed) later in 2022.
